Easy Card Game for Toddlers
My husband and I are really into card games. We play after putting the kids to bed a couple times a week, and it's one of my favorite things. My littles are always VERY eager to be on our team and "help" when we play during the day. We've found it isn't much fun to play when our four year old is yelling out what cards we have and our two year old is wrecking all the piles. I finally found the solution! The boys get their OWN game now (which they love), and guess what? It's teaching them about math at the same time!
You will need:
A deck of any card game
Instructions:
Split the cards equally between players.
Say "one, two, three, flip!" and have each player flip over their top card.
Have your child determine which number is the largest.
Whoever gets the biggest number, gets all the cards that were flipped over.
Repeat the process until all your cards are gone.
Have your child count how many cards are in their pile to see who won!
Activity Notes:
If you decide to use cards like "Skipbo" or "Phase10" you can either pull out the wilds and skips, or assign a number to them. My son thinks it's the best thing ever when we make them count as 100 points and he wins.
If you flip over the same number on a turn, keep the cards in the middle and flip over again. Whoever has the bigger number this time gets all 4 cards!
