Emotions Sensory Bin (free download!)

Have you read the book The Color Monster with your child? It is one of our very favorite ways to learn and talk about emotions with our preschoolers! We’ve created an adorable emotions sensory bin based on The Color Monster, and we want to share it with you today. We’ve included a free download, so be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page to grab it!

You will need:

  • A large bin

  • A variety of colored pom poms (like these)

  • Some jars or bottles (we got ours from the local dollar store)

  • Tweezers (like these)

  • The Color Monster book (find it on Amazon here!)

  • Emotions labels (grab the free download below)

Instructions:

  1. Download and print the emotions labels below. Attach each on to a jar.

  2. Fill your bin with the pom poms and add the labeled jars.

  3. Read The Color Monster together with your child. Talk about the different emotions and the colors that represent each one.

  4. Help your child use the tweezers to sort each colored pom pom into the corresponding emotion jar.

  5. Keep going until the jars are full! Then dump them out and start again!
