Healthy and Edible Play Dough Pasta
Anyone else have picky eaters at their house? We're always trying to find new ways to sneak veggies into my kids' diet and let me tell you, this one takes the cake! Not only does this meal get my kids to eat A TON of spinach without them caring, but it also keeps them busy with their hands for at least half an hour. You guys HAVE to try this!
What You Need:
1 egg
1 Tbsp water
about 3 cups of loosely packed spinach
1/2 to 1 Tbsp dried basil or 1 cup fresh basil
1 1/4 cup flour
*recipe adapted from Our Best Bites Homemade Spinach Basil Pasta Noodles
Instructions:
Put all the ingredients EXCEPT FOR THE FLOUR into your blender.
Mix on high until the mixture is smooth.
Measure your flour into a large bowl.
Pour the blender ingredients into the flour.
Mix and then knead!
Split the dough up between your kids.
Let them shape their pasta however they want.
Bring water to a boil, and cook noodles. You'll know they are done when they float to the top of the pot!
Add any sauces or toppings your kids will like, and let them EAT THOSE VEGGIES!
Activity Notes:
Pull out the rolling pin and let your kids try it out!
Help your kids roll their pasta into smaller pieces so that they cook all the way through. My kids love to roll them into balls, or into "snake" shapes.
For some more flavor, salt the water before you throw your noodles in.
