“How Big is A Million?” Arctic Theme Math Activity (and free download!)

Sometimes the concept of big numbers can be difficult to teach little learners since it can be a little abstract. We have a fun activity to help make this math concept a little easier. And make sure you snag the free download below, too!

You will need:

  • The book How Big is A Million? by Anna Milbourne (available on Amazon)

  • Free downloadable mini poster

  • Black construction paper

  • A pen or thumbtack

Instructions

  1. Read the book How Big is A Million? together. Be sure to check out the big poster at the back and use it to show how many stars a million really is!

  2. Download and print our free mini poster.

  3. Glue the poster onto a piece of black construction paper.

  4. Using the pen or a thumbtack, poke a “million” holes into the paper. This works best if you put the paper over your carpet or a rug or a bulletin board.

  5. Once you’re done, hold your poster up to the window to reveal a “million” tiny stars!
