If your kids can learn their letters, then learning to read will be THAT much easier for them. It's so important for them to be exposed to their letters, and lets be honest- letters aren't the most fun thing for kids to work on. We tried this activity and my boys had so much fun! We hope this will get your kids excited to practice too!

You will need:

  • Magnifying glasses (we got ours at the dollar store, but if you don't have any, use a paper towel tube for a telescope instead!)

  • Cut outs from magazines, newspaper, food boxes, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Cut out a bunch of different words from whatever you can find in your house.

  2. Tape them up on the wall.

  3. Give your kids a magnifying glass and have them go on a letter hunt.

  4. Let them find as many as they want first, and then after they get bored of that, try a different method. "Let's find all the letters in your name" "Can you find me the letter G?" "How many "Es" can you find?"

Activity Notes:

  • If you have a younger toddler that doesn't know their letters yet, try using this activity finding colors or shapes instead.

  • Let your kids help you tape everything up on the wall! They will think it's so fun to choose where to put them.

Pin it for later!
