Pancake Art
Who else has insanely picky kids? I feel like I'm always trying to come up with fun and sneaky ways to get my kids to eat. Doing pancake art has been a total hit at our house! There are lots of different videos you can watch online about it, but I've attached what worked for me down below!
What You Need:
Pancake Batter
Squirt Bottle
Food Coloring
Small Bowls
Instructions:
Make your pancake batter!
Decide what kind of picture you want to make.
Split up your pancake batter into separate little bowls.
Use your food coloring and dye each bowl a different color, based on what picture you're doing.
Put your outline color in the squirt bottle.
Spray your griddle and DON'T PLUG IT IN YET.
Draw your outline.
Rinse out your squirt bottle and fill it with your next color.
NOW plug in your griddle and let your outline cook for a minute or two- just enough so it holds it's shape while you pour the other colors over it.
UNPLUG your griddle again, and finish off your picture, repeating with all desired colors.
Finally, plug in your griddle and let them cook!
Activity Notes:
This is a perfect activity to make letters for your child to spell their name or practice simple words. Make a note that you have to pipe your letters on BACKWARDS so that when you flip them they are right side up!
Using a darker outline color really helps you be able to see your design better.
Let your kids give it a go! Also, let them pick what picture they want. We've done Marvel characters, things from Super Mario, letters, emojis...it's really endless what you can come up with!
We love the Kodak Cake pancake mix. It has a lot more protein and healthy grains than your average pancake mix!
This is a fun letter review game you can play anytime, but it is especially fun to play with your Halloween costumes at Halloween time!
