Z is for Zebra Yarn Wrapping Activity

Have you ever tried yarn wrapping with your preschoolers? This is a great way to work on fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination with little learners. We combined yarn wrapping with the letter Z for a fun and easy way to practice those fine motor skills and learn about letters at the same time!

You will need:

  • Cardboard

  • Scissors

  • Black yarn

  • White yarn

Instructions:

  1. Using a pencil, create a letter Z on your cardboard and cut it out.

  2. Cut notches along the edge of your cardboard letter to help the yarn stay in place.

  3. Cut equal lengths of black and white yarn.

  4. Attach the yarn to the letter Z with a knot, and then let your child wrap the yarn around the letter, using the notches to keep the yarn in place.

  5. Help your child attach the end of the yarn when they are done. You can tie another knot or use tape if you’d like.
