3 Simple Fine Motor Activities Using Pom Poms
My children LOVE to play with pom poms. Especially if they’re extra big, or extra small, or extra glittery. And the best part is, you can easily create a fine motor activity using pom poms that kids will enjoy for large blocks of time. They will be so busy having fun they won’t even notice that they’re working all those fine motor skills at the same time! Keep reading for all the details on three different fine motor activities you can create using pom poms.
You will need:
Jar or other container
Tweezers (like these on Amazon)
Scoops (find them here!)
Muffin Tin
Pop It (like this one from Amazon)

Fill The Jar
Set out the empty jar. Using the tweezers or scoops, grab the pom poms and fill up the jar. You can make this more interesting in a variety of ways:
Set a timer and see how fast you can fill up the jar
Grab only the red pom poms, then the blue ones, etc
Create teams and have one person grab one color of pom poms and one person grab the other color
Estimate how many pom poms will fill the jar
The variations are only limited to your creativity!
Muffin Tin Sort
Set out the empty muffin tin. Using the tweezers or scoops, have your child sort the pom poms into the muffin tin by color or size, or even just to practice using the tweezers. Dump them out and start again!
Pop It Pom Pom Sort
Grab your rainbow pop it, your pom poms, and your tweezers. Have your child use the tweezers or scoop to place a pom pom in each indentation of the pop it. You can have them match the colors if you’d like to practice color sorting.
We hope you love these fun and simple pom pom fine motor activities as much as we do! Enjoy!
This is a fun letter review game you can play anytime, but it is especially fun to play with your Halloween costumes at Halloween time!
