Gingerbread Cookie Counting Activity
We have the cutest gingerbread counting activity to share with you today! We love this activity because it is festive, works on math skills, and is so open-ended that children will want to play again and again. Keep reading for all the details!
You will need:
Brown playdough (we love to make our own using this recipe from I Heart Naptime, or you can buy some on Amazon right here)
Variety of other decorations (googly eyes, gems, Christmas beads, whatever you have will work!)
*If you don’t want to make playdough or don’t have any, you can also download and print our gingerbread man printable from our blog right here. Or scroll to the bottom of this page to download it. It’s free!

Instructions:
Set out your playdough and invite your child to make some gingerbread men.
Show your child how to roll the die, then count the matching number of buttons and place them on the gingerbread man.
You can repeat with different decorations.
When your child is done practicing counting, you can extend the sensory fun by letting them make more gingerbread cookies and decorate them however they’d like.
