Water Name Tracing
My son is starting to write his name- and I know it's nothing huge, but I'm totally a kid on Christmas morning over here. Granted, he's got a LONG way to go before anyone else besides me can tell what he is scribbling down, but it's such an exciting milestone for me! Since he clearly needs the practice, I love activities like this one! It's so simple and really to set up, but is fun and different enough that your child might forget that they are practicing!
You will need:
A chalkboard
A small bowl of water
Q-tips
Instructions:
Write your child's name in chalk on the chalkboard.
Get them set up with a q-tip and the bowl of water.
Have them dip their q-tip in the water, and then trace their name!
Activity Notes:
If your child is already writing their name well, try using other words- especially with letters that they need practicing on!
Instead of a full on bowl of water, I used the lid to my dry shampoo and it was the perfect amount. Let's be honest- my boys WILL dump it out at some point no matter what, so I like to make sure the amount of water isn't significant.
Try switching roles! Have your child write with the chalk and then you trace with the water! That might be a good way for them to see what their letters are really looking like and things that they could improve on!
