Heart Letter Matching Game
I remember thinking with my first son that teaching him both the lowercase AND the uppercase letters seemed so daunting. How in the world was this little boy going to figure out that both a and A were A? But guess what? He did it. And so will your child! It's important to practice, though and doing activities like this one will really help! We did this one the week of Valentine’s Day, so we used all the hearts to make it festive!
What You Need:
Paper (2 different colors!)
Heart Shape Cutter
Pen or Marker
Tape or Glue
Instructions:
Use your cutter to cut out your heart shapes with one of your papers.
Write one uppercase letter on each heart.
Tape or glue the uppercase hearts on a piece of paper.
Use your OTHER color of paper and cut heart shapes out of those ones.
Write the matching lowercase letters on these hearts.
Put your lowercase letters to the side of the page and have your child match them up!
Activity Notes:
It's pretty time consuming to do every letter in the alphabet (not to mention overwhelming for your kiddo) so try to focus on the letters that look different from their match (i.e. Q & q, R & r, G & g, etc.)
To make this activity easier, cut out half the hearts and just write the other half on the paper!
Gear this towards whatever holiday you're by in the year! Do pumpkins for Halloween, shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day, etc.
To simplify, use less letters in the activity.
