Paper Airplane Measuring
If you're a mom, you've probably folded your fair share of paper airplanes. My boys LOVE them, and want to play them often. My idea going into this post, was how could I turn a fun activity that they already love, into more of a learning experience? Here's what I came up with!
You will need:
Paper
Coloring Supplies
Measuring Tape
Instructions:
Give your kids some paper and coloring stuff. Let them decorate however they want!
Fold their paper into a paper airplane. (If you don't know how to do it, there are tons of tutorials and pictures online!)
Have your child throw the paper airplane.
Hold the measuring tape steady and have them pull it out to where their paper airplane landed.
Hold the measuring tape in place, and have your child point to and read the number of how far their airplane went.
Repeat 3-5 as many times as your child stays interested!
Activity Notes:
This is a perfect activity to practice saying numbers! Instead of just saying "1-2-8" have them practice saying "one hundred twenty eight". They'll pick it up quick!
It would be fun practice to count by tens! Have your kid find each progressing ten and say them out loud as they go.
If you have multiple kids, have them throw them at the same time and do a race!
