Spin-a-letter Literacy Activity
We love finding new and creative ways to practice letter names and sounds with our preschoolers. Today on the blog we have a super fun and super simple literacy activity that you can do with you child at home for some extra letter practice!
You will need:
Construction paper
Marker
Top (any will work! You could even use a coin and spin it if that’s all you’ve got!)
Instructions:
Write a variety of letters all over your construction paper. We did all of the alphabet in uppercase, but you could do just a few, or do lowercase. Feel free to tailor it to whatever your child needs to practice!
Put the paper on a flat surface and spin the top over it. When it stops spinning, have your child identify the letter it landed closest to.
Repeat as many times as you’d like!
You can adapt this activity by having your child write the letter, or say the letter sound, or tell you a word that starts with that letter. So many options!
This is a fun letter review game you can play anytime, but it is especially fun to play with your Halloween costumes at Halloween time!
